It Keeps Getting Better

I tried making another Layer cake sample 2 weeks ago. I could not find any Haw Flakes Layer Cake recipe that I trusted online, so I went back to Rabiah Amit's recipe book and modify her fruit layer cake to become Haw Flakes. It works :D

Hot from the oven! The moist not yet truly come out, but it was still soft and fluffy instead of dry :)

This recipe use less sugar than usual because the Haw Flakes would give the sweet and sour taste to the cake, plus I did not want to overwhelm the Haw Flakes anyway.

See, it moisten just right after being kept in the fridge for a day. The melted Haw Flakes before has penetrated into the cake layer, it's taste getting better.

Another Babai's colleague like it very much she ordered 5 nos of 8"x4" for her CNY celebration in Sabah. Due to her special request (diabetes I heard), I have reduced further the sugar and condensed milk content. I hope they'll still like it. I have baked 4 so far, and 1 more to go until delivery day this Friday.

This weekend, I will continue baking for Babai's friend 4 different flavors of layer cake, and up to yesterday, I have received another 3 orders for Strawberry flavor layer cakes from Chris' colleagues, which I also have to deliver just before New Year. I feel happy that people trusted me enough and do actually likes to eat my homemade layer cake. I could not ask for more, considering I am just a beginner, and never bake any cake on my own in the past 30 years of my life! Oppss.. now you know how old I am haha!

Next project, I am considering heavily on trying my hands on fondant making. I have good idea on what I wanted to do with it :)

My mum makes excellent kek lapis sarawak. She mixes it wif all sorts of flavours, like milo, horlicks etc. Cant really remember but I know she also mixes it with hwa flakes like you do.

Good to know you also have similar interest. Maybe you can open a shop in the future.

Hi bloggers,
I am careful with the selection of flavors and it's suitability, cos i don't want it to be too generic. however, I am still experimenting at the moment. making mistakes here and there, but getting better i believe. hehe, i dont think i'll get to open a shop anytime soon, but thanks for the encouragement :D
