Life As It Is

Last Saturday after work, I was so excited to go out somewhere other than being in the house. I finished my discussion with Boss in less than 10 minutes (yahoo!) and left office on the dot. Babai came back from riding early and we went off to Summit to catch a movie.

Above all places, I don't know why but I like to be at The Summit, Subang. Of course there are no branded house and boutiques there, but surprisingly I always seems to be able to find something that I was looking for. The place is not crowded, food aplenty, and you can find good bargain for clothes, bags, and cheap services eg nail saloon.

We were famished as we haven't had our lunch yet. While qeueuing for tickets, I ordered our drinks at a nearby stall. I just love the Assam Laksa there, I think the cafe is called Chatterbox Cafe. It's always full with patrons, I sometimes go there just to eat the Assam Laksa. But that day, I was hungry for mixed rice (their mango salad is No.1!) and it was actually Babai who insisted on having Assam Laksa. I noticed that lots of Sarawakian does not really like Assam Laksa in particular, and suprisingly I managed to influence Babai after patronizing the place a few times. It must be that good huh! :D

Since Ong Bak 2 is not shown anymore in GSC Summit, we settled for The Punisher : War Zone. It was so-so. They changed the main actor, but I prefered the earlier one. Overall, not too bad. But my advice is to get the DVD because lots of scene was censored.

When the movie finished, we went down and I decided to have my manicure. It was so cheap, RM25 for manicure and RM35 for pedicure. Two weeks ago I had a mani+pedi in Kuching for RM22-mani, RM33 for pedi, but the service sucks big time. It was House of Nails in Crown Tower. I was attended by the owner, Carol Lee if I'm not mistaken. First of all, she made me waited for her for almost half an hour. Then she scrubbed my legs so hard it feels like sand paper. She even cut my cuticle a bit deep I yelped in pain. Idiot! She left me half way to be attended by her only assistant, who was still with another customer. That would be my first and my last time ever there. She maybe felt that she doesn't deserve to wash my feet. The thing about Sarawakian Chinese is that some of them still feel that our money was not good enough for them. Some of them are just so stuck up. There I said it! I apologize to any Chinese reader, but I have gone through so many of this experience, especially in Kuching.

Anyway, the nail saloon in Summit is actually the same one, but a different owner. I was happy with their service and method, even the end finishing was good. Went down to look for Babai in Starbuck and we went back inside to look at the MyMobile Fair. Shown Babai the phone that I wanted. I already narrowed down my selection, but I just couldn't decide which one to go for. In the end, instead of getting a new phone, Babai got me a new casing for his aging Nokia 3310 spare phone. Bummer.

After that, we drove to Kelana Jaya to have dinner with Tyller-Ngieng couple. We had a sumptuous steak for dinner at Hup Soon Restaurant, and was later joined by another couple - Watt, wife and daughter.

Reached home at about 11pm and I just couldn't wait to hit the pillow. Need to catch up with my sleep that I lacked for the whole month hehe.

On Sunday, we felt so lazy to go out anywhere, not for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. I took out whatever food ration we had at home as I have not done any grocery shopping for the month. Bacon and egg for breakfast, canned sardine and maggi mee for lunch, and Babai tapau fried kuey teow and Nasi Goreng Kampung from nearby shop for dinner. Watched a mob movie DVD titled 'We Own The Night'. Since it was supposed to be a 1988 era, it lacks lots of side effect but nevertheless it was still ok. Went to KLIA to pick up a friend who came back from Kuching at 10.30pm and receive gifts in the form of Terung Kuning/Terung Dayak and some tipuk/tepus. Will definitely be featured into my Sarawak Exotic Cuisine blog soon!

fonsusz: of not all of them are like that. some are die hard friends, but there are those who actually thought they are the super-citizen in Kuching. Duh! People like these shouldnt go into the service line lah.

MadWitch GoneCrazy:
i think RM25 for mani is very reasonable, but don't go to places like Midvalley la. For the first time, maybe you want to include with treatment, maybe additional RM30-RM50. Now I just go for normal mani/pedi, it should be good enough. Believe me, once you tried it, you'll find yourself putting aside some money for mani/pedi every month instead of getting some dresses LOL!

I know this was like few years back.. I googled for mani pedi in Kuching & get to read your blog post. Maybe just that shop only. I'm Kuching Chinese too. I went to another mani pedi instead of the Crown one the other day, they were very nice to me. =D Maybe some of them are really sombong for don't know what reason. Cheers~
